Big Jim's Charters
In the charter business for over ten years, Big Jim has been fishing for salmon in Alaska for more than twenty years. Come fish for Kings, Cohos, Chums or Pinks with us and enjoy the scenery of Southeast Alaska from our 34' Catalina Islander.
We use top-quality Penn reels with Shakespeare Ugly sticks and a combination of artificial lures and strip herring for bait. Cousin Bill with Coho

Chinook Salmon, otherwise known as Kings, are Alaska's biggest and most prized Salmon. Kings can be caught year round, but the height of their season is late May through June

Coho Salmon, or Silvers, known for their shiny scales, and are a favorite in Alaska. Targeted mostly in late July, Cohos generally run from June through September

Chums, or Dogs, excellent for smoking, are mostly caught June through July.

Pinks, or Humpies, known for the hump they develop on their backs upon maturation, this fish is often commercially fished and sold canned. Height of season during June and July.

Sockeye or Red Salmon, though they are not usually caught by line fisherman, occasionally may be caught while targeting other species.
